The sustainability imperative
This is the perfect moment for business, government, and society to join forces and reimagine, rebuild and transform our global economy into one that works for the benefit of all. The COVID-19 pandemic has created once-unimaginable challenges for our people, our clients, and our communities. Additionally, it has emerged as an incredible opportunity to reimagine and rebuild as responsible businesses. We can make a real impact on how we operate Accenture and how we work with clients, who are some of the world’s leading companies and governments. By taking action, we can deliver more excellent 360-degree value for the benefit of all.m
“Today’s rapid acceleration to digital presents us with a breakthrough opportunity to create a more sustainable future. By scaling these ambitions, we can help make real change and deliver 360-degree value for all.”
Growing our sustainability services
We initiated our sustainability services 12 years ago, intending to embed responsible business into everything we do for our clients and work with our ecosystem partners to co-develop our clients' capabilities to achieve their sustainability goals. To better serve our clients and ecosystem partners, we focus on three priority areas:
- Low-carbon energy industry transitions
- Green IT, Cloud, and Software
- Responsible Value Chains
Additionally, our Talent & Organization/Human Potential practice, HR, and Sustainability teams work together to help our clients embed sustainable practices, increase agility, and reskill their workforces. In short, we are supporting our clients towards becoming competitive, sustainable, and responsible for improving environmental and social outcomes!
SETTING NEW NET-ZERO+ GOALS
Being a responsible business also means strong climate action at Accenture. We follow the same advice for reducing our global footprint that we give our clients and suppliers. We have been setting bigger and bolder environmental goals for ourselves and making investments to achieve our goals.
Net-zero emissions by 2025
We will power our offices with 100% renewable energy, engaging key suppliers to reduce their emissions, and equipping our people to make climate-smart travel decisions. We will invest in proprietary, nature-based carbon removal solutions, such as large-scale tree planting to remove emissions from the atmosphere.
Move to zero waste
By 2025, we will reuse or recycle 100% of our e-waste, including computers and servers, as well as all of our office furniture. Moreover, single-use plastics will be eliminated in our locations after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Plan for water risk
By 2025, we will have plans to reduce the impact of flooding, drought, and water scarcity on our business and our people in high-risk areas. Additionally, we will immediately begin to measure and reduce water use in these locations.
We also have joined the more than 300 companies that have signed the UN Global Compact's business Ambition by pledging to do our part to keep global warming below 1.5°. We are the largest professional services company to have a science-based target approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative. And we have committed to RE100’s global initiative to use 100% renewable electricity by 2023.
