Helping NGO's with Technology

To leave the world in better shape than we found it – that is our goal. And we mean it: bringing innovative solutions to non-profit and social organizations, we understand that each one of us is liable for helping to create a sustainable world. Besides working with many global clients and creating high impact, we are proud of the work we do with NGOs. At Accenture, we have a strong commitment to corporate citizenship as a vital part of our DNA.

In collaboration with Salesforce, the Black Jaguar Foundation (BJF) was offered support to help cast a light on the best options towards accelerating their mission: carry out one of the most significant reforestation projects on the planet. By upgrading their Salesforce user interface, we succeeded in boosting engagement with their donors and supporters and improve on insights on marketing and growth strategies.

The Black Jaguar Foundation and their commitment to make a difference

BJF’s mission is clear: replant indigenous trees along the Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor in the heart of Brazil – a 2,600km long and 40km vast terrain. The goal is to restore the natural ecosystem and secure the future of endangered species residing in the Amazon and the Cerrado Savana.

The Black Jaguar Foundation is not your average NGO. Their mission aids the quest for building a more sustainable future, while securing a better environment for generations to come. This affected ecosystem alone produces 20 percent of the world’s oxygen, 30 percent of the world’s clean water, and 25 percent of the ingredients for all the world’s medicine. A mass scale restoration of this forestland helps to effectively fight climate change – the trees absorb excessive amounts of CO2 as they grow, supporting the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

BJF’s mission is undoubtedly ambitious and worthwhile. But how do you turn an ambition into reality? How can a non-profit that relies on the support of its sponsors and donors organize and execute this mass scale transformation? The answer is simple: by partnering with Salesforce and Accenture.

  • The Araguaia Biodiversity Corridor

Salesforce and its added value for non-profit organizations

Once the Black Jaguar foundation realized they needed a cloud-based system accessible anywhere in the world, they reached out to Salesforce – a global market leader in CRM. A compelling user-friendly and fully customizable tool, Salesforce can help businesses of all sizes transform themselves. Their philanthropic model to empower non-profits caught the attention o the Black Jaguar Foundation, and their Non-profit Cloud made the implementation of this tool easier and more accessible for them.

The ability to track fundraising goals, past donations, donated licenses, and other benefits were offered to the Black Jaguar Foundation at a discount. The average benefits of Salesforce’s non-profit solution include a 49 percent faster response to constituents, 24 percent more donor retention, and a 32 percent reduction service and support costs.

We tailored the CRM solution to meet the Black Jaguar Foundation’s objectives by discussing their unique needs and how Salesforce can contribute towards achieving its overall mission. The BJF organization is now able to autonomously operate their Salesforce system and use this tool to its full potential.

Salesforce's contribution towards efficient scaling and new donor engagement

The Black Jaguar Foundation team was provided with a 360-degree view of their stakeholders and is now able to expand their organization internationally, and build better funding strategies using tools that now allow them to track and measure their efforts, thanks to Salesforce.

As the BJF team finalizes their preparation phase, and transitions into their fundraising phase, they are empowered by Salesforce and Accenture to move forward. Salesforce enables them to enhance their engagement by consolidating all of their donors and contributors in one place accessible to everyone in the company, regardless of their location.

“We would definitely recommend Salesforce to all non-profits, because it is reliable, you can customize it to your own needs, whether you are a huge or small foundation.”
Ben Valks, BJF founder

Being able to make smarter marketing and growth decisions, BJF gained more insights into their donor base with the use of Salesforce’s system. The software’s user-friendliness enabled the team to collaborate and combine information, breaking down data silos, and working more efficiently towards achieving their end goal.

Soon, they aim to add all non-cash contributions to the system and track the value of all donated time and goods from companies and individuals alike. In short, we combined three forces to boost international fundraising efforts, implementing a compelling CRM solution that helps one of the most significant reforestation projects in the world.

Now that’s what we call a win-win-win

Sharing our skills for the greater good

As the number one implementation partner of Salesforce, we also support an increasing number of NGOs. In efforts to support the Black Jaguar Foundation, we have used the same methodologies as we do in other large-scale projects. Through this support, we support the Black Jaguar Foundation in terms of growth, enabling them to have a better overview of their current and potential donor base and scale more efficiently.

We are fully committed to our role as corporate citizens. For this reason, we have set up programs aimed at using combined skills to make a positive impact:

  • Through our Do Good platform, employees are given the chance to use their time, skills, network and crowdfunding money to help a nonprofit organization like the Black Jaguar Foundation. In partnership with GoodUp, the Do Good platform is used to set up pro bono, volunteering, or crowdfunding projects with the aim of helping others succeed.
  • With the help of our Skills to Succeed program, we have strong relationships with various non-profit partners to achieve a greater impact on society. This program draws on two of our core capabilities of training talent and building partnerships to achieve tangible, measurable results. By mobilizing people, partners, and clients we strive to make a measurable and sustainable difference in communities around the world.

We offer a unique path for NGOs to make their services more approachable and accessible. This begins with an assessment to analyze improvements that need to be made within the organization. These improvements can then be implemented at a competitive rate and with continued support provided on a capacity-based service model through our Center for Excellence.
